Sony Pictures has locked down a Jumanji 3 release date of December 11, 2026. The movie studio announced the schedule update today, confirming that a third entry in its franchise reboot series is in the works with plans to swing into IMAX and other Premium Large Formats in a little more than two years. It’s a date that will keep Jumanji 3 from audiences for quite a while, and while a cast has not been confirmed, Deadline reports that director Jake Kasdan, along with stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan, are in talks and expected to return.
Jumanji introduced moviegoers to its jungle board game premise in 1995. In the film, the titular board game brings dangerous wildlife creatures – and a lost boy played by Robin Williams – into the real world. It’s a cult-classic with a unique idea that many latched onto, so it was no surprise when Sony decided to reanimate the IP with fresh faces in 2017.
