JULIA MONTES – The Kapamilya actress encouraged the public to eat Pinoy pork saying that “pork is fun” amid the worries of many consumers. Undeniably, the Filipinos are among the people across the globe who are into eating pork and pork products. In fact, a lot of Pinoys prefer eating pork that fish products.

However, in the recent months, the hog raisers are not getting as much as they used to. The decline of the pork consumption is due to the outbreak of the African Swine Fever or more popularly called the ASF. It is a highly contagious viral disease of pigs and it comes along with a high mortality rate.

Amid the outbreak of the ASF in the country last year, countless hog raisers lost their source of income after losing all their pigs to the disease. In fact, there are several hog raisers who have yet to return to the hog raising industry. Kananga, Leyte is one of those hit by the ASF .
