Loftin has served as a Phenix City Municipal Court Judge since 1997, combining his legal practice with a commitment to public service. Raised in the small town of Hartford, Alabama, Loftin said he was inspired to pursue law by his older brother, Sam Loftin, who began his legal career a decade earlier. After earning his law degree from the Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Pat Loftin embarked on his own legal journey, where he quickly established himself as a compassionate advocate for his clients.

Loftin’s involvement extends beyond the courtroom; he is an active member of the Phenix City Exchange Club, where he helps raise funds for various earned an associate's of arts degree at Chattahoochee Valley College in 1978 and a bachelor's of science in business from Auburn University in 1979. He earned his juris doctorate in law from the University of Alabama in 1982. Her served as the Russell County assistant district attorney from 1984 to 2009, before becoming a municipal court judge with Phenix City.
