John Tavares was possibly injured after receiving a cheap shot from the Montreal Canadiens ' Michael Pezzetta during their preseason game. During the first period of their preseason game versus Montreal, John Tavares was taken out by a brutal and unecessary check from Michael Pezzetta , who caught Tavares in the lower half after he disposed of the puck. Tavares was very slow to get up and he skated gingerly to the Toronto bench once he got to his feet.
This definitely is not a good sign for a Leafs team already missing Auston Matthews amongst others. Maple Leafs fan aren't too happy about the incident either, calling for Pezzetta to be punished in some fashion. Well it didn't take long for John Tavares to be back on the ice for the Maple Leafs after his scary collision with Montreal's Michael Pezzetta, and it paid off in a big way as he scored the opening goal for the Maple Leafs to go ahead 1-0 in their preseason bout vs.
