Prince Harry and JJ Chalmers (Image: PA Wire) War veteran and television personality JJ Chalmers has shared an insight into his friendship with Prince Harry . The 37-year-old says he met the Duke of Sussex "at the side of a swimming pool" in Lympstone Commando Training Centre while training for the Royal Marine rehabilitation triathlon over a decade ago. It came after he was injured in a bomb blast while serving in Afghanistan in 2011.

There he struck up a friendship with Harry, who was inspired by the rehabilitation triathlon to launch the Invcitus Games, giving wounded service personnel a "platform" to share their recovery. Speaking on the PRsonal podcast, Chalmers said it was only eight months later that competitors walked out onto London's Olympic Park for the first Invcitus Games. He said: "I met him at the side of a swimming pool at Lympstone, that's the commando training centre where we all went through training to become Royal Marines.

We had this thing called the Royal Marines rehabilitation triathlon, which is like an adapted triathlon for Marines and what not. function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.
