1 2 Vadodara: Godhra police recovered jewellery worth Rs 1.13 crore that had been stolen by a woman employee of a showroom, ostensibly to help her debt-ridden boyfriend who had lost heavily in gambling. In all, jewellery worth Rs 1.

26 crore was stolen by the employee over a period of time. The theft came to light at Dhanraj Jewellers on Saturday night when the showroom owner was taking stock in the shop. The owner noticed 49 bangles and 16 necklaces were missing.

The owner called all the employees and spoke to them one by one. One of the employees, Anushka Parwani , 20, broke down and confessed to have stolen jewellery on several occassions. The owner filed an FIR with Godhra police and an investigation was started.

During questioning, Parwani said she had given the jewellery to her boyfriend, Nilesh Thakwani. The boyfriend had pawned the jewellery at two places. Items worth Rs 17.

45 lakh was pawned at a firm called Paras Shroff, and Rs 99.63 lakh was kept as collateral at the Muthoot Finance company. Police have recovered the stolen items from both places.

Sources said Thakwani is yet to be arrested and only he knows what happened to jewellery worth to Rs 13.01 lakh. We also published the following articles recently ED seizes Rs 5.
