Low-cost airline JetBlue is being sued by a passenger for more than $1 million, alleging she was severely burned when a hot cup of tea was spilled on her by a crew member during turbulence, reported People . According to court documents obtained by People , Tahjana Lewis said she was on a JetBlue flight from Orlando, Fla., to Hartford, Conn.

, on May 15 when a flight attendant was serving another passenger and “a dangerously hot cup of tea” landed on her. In the suit, Lewis said she allegedly received severe burns, in addition to “disfigurement and scarring,” on her upper chest, breasts, legs, left buttocks and right arm. She also said she allegedly suffered “mental anguish, anxiety and post-traumatic stress” from the tea-spilling incident and said the airline crew didn’t “properly administer first aid.

” Lewis not only alleged that the water was served “at a temperature that was unreasonably and dangerously hot,” but her suit also alleged the crew was performing beverage service “during a time when there was ongoing turbulence” and “the ‘fasten seatbelt sign’ was turned on,” leading to conditions that were unsafe. The lawsuit seeks damages greater than $1.5 million with Lewis alleging she’s had expenses for medical care, diagnostic tests and treatment and will need future treatment for her injuries, some of which “will be permanent in nature and/or permanently disabling.
