Tuesday, October 8, 2024 Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have celebrated a significant achievement at the Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2024, winning three prestigious awards and advancing to the finals of this year’s National Awards. In its 21st edition, the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards honor outstanding apprentices, apprenticeship advocates, and employers across the region.
This year, the awards introduced a new category to acknowledge broader skills development pathways championed by dedicated employers. Jet2.com and Jet2holidays were awarded the title of Large Employer of the Year, while Katie Rankin, the Emerging Talent & Careers Manager, received the inaugural Skills Champion of the Year award.
The regional awards ceremony took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton York on October 2, where Andrew Loy, General Manager of Engineering, Safety, and Compliance, was honored as Degree Apprentice of the Year. This accolade recognizes his commitment to advancing apprenticeship programs alongside his professional responsibilities and academic pursuits. Additionally, apprentice Alfie Mower earned a Highly Commended award in the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year category, and Leo Girdlestone made it to the finals for Higher Apprentice of the Year.
As regional winners selected from a competitive field of applicants, Katie and Andrew are now automatically shortlisted for the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards finals, which will occur on November .
