British band Coldplay and their lead singer Chris Martin recently took a moment during their ongoing tour in India to celebrate one of the country’s greatest cricket talents, Jasprit Bumrah . The band, currently on their 'Music of the Spheres' World Tour, will perform five concerts across India from January 18 to 26 in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The spotlight fell on Bumrah during Coldplay's opening concert at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Chris Martin humorously claimed that Bumrah was backstage and had requested a 15-minute break in the concert so he could bowl to Martin. A post shared by jasprit bumrah (@jaspritb1) The following day, Martin confessed that his previous night's claim was in jest. However, he then shared that he had indeed received a "serious message" from Bumrah.
To honor the cricketer, Martin publicly acknowledged Bumrah as 'No. 1 in the world' and showcased a video on the stadium's giant screen of Bumrah delivering a match-defining dismissal of England's Ollie Pope, which was met with enthusiastic cheers from the thousands in attendance.
