Monday, January 27, 2025 The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Delhi Office proudly announced a groundbreaking achievement in 2024, with 233,000 Indian tourists visiting Japan between January and December. This marks an impressive 40% increase compared to the 166,394 visitors recorded in 2023. The surge in Indian tourism is a testament to the growing interest in Japan’s unique cultural and natural attractions.
Impressive Growth in Key Months Two months stood out in this tourism boom: March and May. March 2024 saw approximately 27,206 Indian arrivals, reflecting a staggering 83% year-on-year growth. May 2024, on the other hand, recorded the highest monthly influx, with around 29,068 Indian visitors, representing a 61.
6% year-on-year increase. May has traditionally been a favored travel period for Indian families, aligning with summer vacations in India. The timing coincides perfectly with Japan’s post-Golden Week lull, an off-season for domestic travelers, making it an ideal period for international tourists to explore Japan with ease.
Expanding Horizons with MICE Tourism In 2024, there was a notable expansion in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) segment. While Tokyo has long been a preferred destination for MICE events, new regions like Kansai and Hiroshima have joined the fold. This shift reflects the increasing interest among Indian corporate travelers and event planners to explore diverse Japanese locations.
