Scones are often paired with jam and cream, but savoury scones are just as tasty when layered with butter. Jamie Oliver’s recipe uses the air fryer to cook the scones, helping to save both time and energy. The recipe notes said: “These savoury scones are absolutely delicious, crisp and golden, but also fluffy inside.

“You can knock them together really quickly with this recipe .” It makes six scones , and the recipe is for a one-drawer air fryer, so adjust quantities depending on the size of your appliance. 200g self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting One teaspoon of baking powder One teaspoon of English powder Cayenne pepper 75g cold unsalted butter 120g mature Cheddar cheese One bunch of chives (20g) 70ml milk, plus extra for brushing Olive oil 250g light cream cheese Half a lemon Start by sifting the flour into a bowl with the baking and mustard powder, then add some cayenne pepper and salt.

Cube up the cold butter before using your fingertips to rub it into the flour mixture until you have small pieces. Grate 100g of the Cheddar, finely chop, and add the chives before mixing them again. Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk to bring it together, adding a little more if needed.

Turn it out onto a floured surface and quickly work the dough into a 3cm-thick round, then cut out six triangular pieces, lightly brush them with milk and grate the remaining cheese on top with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper. Grease the air fryer with some olive oil and preheat it .
