But Jamie Oliver , 49, says his road to a successful career was made bumpy by jealous rivals and even his 'heroes'.
In a heartbreaking admission, the chef revealed that the food gurus he once looked up to 'tried to destroy' him. Jamie, who rose to fame at age 25 in his own reality show The Naked Chef, dished on his past in a new interview in The Daily Telegraph . 'I n the early days, in the first five years of my career, lots of my heroes were so f**king horrible to me,' he said.
'Honestly, they were so jealous of my success, and I was only a young boy.' He continued: 'It was the only thing that I struggled with for those first five years, because these people I looked up to were just destroying me on a regular basis, and they couldn't work out how it was that I was selling more books than all of them put together.' The married father of five and multi-millionaire said he credits his success in part to 'luck'.
