Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr’s war of words has reignited after the Norwegian star called the British world champion a “moron” in a new documentary series. Their heated rivalry appeared to thaw after both were beaten by American Cole Hocker at last month’s Olympic Games, with Ingebrigtsen acknowledging the qualities of both Kerr and the surprise gold medallist afterwards. But these latest remarks are set to ensure their tete-a-tete continues into next season.

Ingebrigtsen made the dig in episode four of “Born to Run”, an Amazon Prime series following him and his elder siblings throughout 2024 - although the scene was recorded earlier in the season, at May’s Prefontaine Classic. Kerr and Ingebrigtsen have been firing verbal shots at each other since the former kicked home to win the world championship - leading the Norwegian to bitterly describe the Edinburgh man as “just the next guy.” That led to Kerr firing back at Ingebrigtsen, questioning his sense of entitlement with both subsequently exchanging playground insults at each other through various means.

But when asked about the genesis of the rivalry in "Born to Run," Ingebrigtsen said: "The problem with the rivalry is that it's not created by the media. It's only been created by that moron because he began trash-talking me." The Paris Games seemed to have signalled a change in tune from Ingebrigtsen.

Although in early September, Kerr awkwardly sidestepped an opportunity to praise Ingebrigtsen ahead of.
