A woman who is convinced she is 'part mermaid' has transformed her house into an 'underwater' paradise which she says makes her feel most at home. On a spontaneous trip abroad in her 20s, Bianca Spruit, now 45, found a passion for scuba diving and a love for being under the sea which has continued to grow over the years. In what she describes as a ‘labour of love’, the leadership coach and diving instructor from Leeds added nautical-inspired pieces to her home over the course of eight years, creating a ‘serene retreat’ where she can sit back and relax surrounded by the things she loves the most.

“In my twenties, I went on a very random holiday to Ayia Napa with my ex-boyfriend's mates and a friend from my college days. Whilst clubbing was ok for me for a couple of days, I soon got bored and decided to try scuba diving. I've always been a water baby and had been wanting to try it, so this was my chance," Bianca told the Manchester Evening News and Ruggable.

I didn't actually see much on that dive but the feeling of calm and weightlessness meant I was hooked from the very start," she continued. "As soon as I got back to the UK, I enrolled on my first diving course.

Today, I'm not only a leadership coach, but a dive instructor too and have worked in dive schools in the UK, Thailand and Australia. Now convinced.
