A mass survey conducted by consumer champion Which? revealed the best airports in the UK. Almost 7,000 people were quizzed about their experiences at airports in the past 12 months, with respondents invited to rate the airports across 11 categories, including seating, staff, toilets and queues at check-in, bag drop, passport control and security. Liverpool John Lennon Airport bagged the top spot with a customer score of 81%.

Visitors were pleased with the quick and easy experience while the passenger lounge was praised for feeling relaxed. Meanwhile, its neighbour, Manchester Airport , fell to the bottom of the scoreboard with a meagre 51% at best for terminal 2. It was criticised, specifically by older guests, for its long walks and lack of seating.

Manchester Airport told Which? that its own passenger surveys suggest people are much more positive about the airport. As someone who flies from both airports several times a year, the results are surprising for different reasons.
