Good Morning Britain: Charlotte Hawkins explains her absence Good Morning Britain saw a familiar face return today (August 22) as Charlotte Hawkins took the helm of the ITV show after a lengthy absence. The breakfast television star was joined by Adil Ray , who stormed off set yesterday , as she addressed the reason behind her time off - But fans were less than impressed. Opening the show, Charlotte turned to Adil as she said: "Do you know what? I'm back! It feels a bit strange after two weeks of not having the early alarm.

" She added: "It's the longest amount I've ever had off, I think, for a very long time so it was a bit of a shock to the system this morning." Co-host Adil asked: "What have you been doing for two weeks?" Charlotte replied: "I've been doing all sorts of watersports, actually. Sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, little bit of water-skiing.

It's been great fun, yeah. "A family watersports holiday, we went on." She added: "I can highly recommend it.

" Adil asked: "But where did you actually go?" His co-star responded saying: "We went to Greece and then we went to the Isle of Wight. So it was a holiday of two halves." Shocked, Adil said: "You had two holidays?" Jokingly, he added: "Now, do you remember what you're doing?" Charlotte quipped about being able to log on to the computer as she expertly moved on to the news topics of the day.
