A chip shop favourited by the Neville family has closed due to financial challenges. John Kilgariff from Harwood has managed Stephen Street Chippery , Ainsworth, for the past two and half years. The co-owner has cited the current rising cost of living including cost of ingredients for the reasons for the closure.

John said: “We’ve fought long and hard to keep our prices competitive but things keep escalating. “The price of staples like oil and potatoes have doubled and we can’t justify passing that cost on to our customers.” The Elton shop was featured in Sky’s The Overlap on Tour when Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane paid a visit last year.
