As the Toronto Raptors get ready to retire Vince Carter’s No. 15 jersey on Saturday, Nov. 2, we thought we would look back at some of the memorable moments of his highlight-filled years with the team.

Carter was a Raptor between 1998 and 2004, playing six full seasons with the team before he was traded to the New Jersey Nets partway through his seventh year in the league. He went on to have a long career after his time in Toronto and is tied for most NBA seasons played by any player with 22 (tied with LeBron James who is currently in his 22nd season). Carter — playing with the Atlanta Hawks, his eighth team — retired after the 2019-20 season.

So, let’s go down memory lane. There’s no denying that Carter’s earliest years in the NBA defined him as one of the best dunkers of all time. When Carter said “It’s over” during the 2000 slam dunk contest, even before the scores were announced, there was no doubt who would be crowned slam dunk champion that year.

Vince Carter stunned judges and NBA superstars alike with the electrifying and unprecedented slams he threw down in the 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. ✔ Subscribe to ESPN on YouTube: ✔ Subscribe to ESPN FC on YouTube: ✔ Subscribe to NBA on ESPN on YouTube: ✔ Watch ESPN on YouTube TV: ESPN on Social Media: ► Follow on Twitter: ► Like on Facebook: ► Follow on Instagram: Visit ESPN on YouTube to get up-to-the-minute sports news coverage, scores, highlights and commentary for NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, College .
