While there are many exciting projects slated for release for Malayalam actor Mohanlal, fans have been most eagerly waiting for his directorial debut, the fantasy flick Barroz, which has been in the making for quite some time now. On November 15, Friday, the makers of the highly-anticipated film took to their social media to release a video announcing the official release date of the film. According to the makers, the film will hit theatres o December 25.

The release announcement was made by legendary director Fazil, who had introduced Mohanlal to Indian cinema as a young 19-year-old actor in the 1980 film Manjil Virinja Pookkal. Fazil, the father of actor Fahadh Faasil, is best-known for another classic collaboration with Mohanlal, the 1993 psychological thriller Manichitrathaazhu. Interestingly, both Manjil Virinja Pookkal and Manichitrathaazhu were released on December 25.

About Barroz Barroz is a period fantasy film based on Jijo Punnoose's novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure. The plot revolves around the character Barroz who has been safeguarding Vasco da Gama's hidden treasure for over four centuries. Alongside Mohanlal, the cast includes Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, Guru Somasundaram, and others.
