Grimsby should prepare for a hot one, weather forecasters have said. Temperatures of up to 33C are on the cards locally for Monday, August 12. The day is down to be one of mostly clear blue skies and full sunshine, with a few sunny intervals predicted for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

A Met Office spokesperson said that Monday will be windy in the north generally, with thunderstorms and heavy rain steadily moving eastwards, but not forecast to reach as far as northern Lincolnshire. Elsewhere, sunny spells are forecast with variable cloud amounts and the conditions set to be “hot and humid” across England and eastern Wales. Anyone hoping for a spot or two of rain to water the garden or the allotment might be left wanting, if the longer-range forecast is anything to go by. The rest of the week is down to have sun or some cloud at times right through until next weekend. At least the temperatures will fall slightly to a more comfortable 21C to 23C later in the week, although Tuesday will still have highs around 27C in the Grimsby area.
