A rustic Devon pub is offering one of the UK's top Sunday roasts, according to food experts. The Cornish Arms in Tavistock has been highlighted in the Best Sunday Roast 2024 category in the Good Food Guide. The establishment is one of seven in the South West to make the list, with three located in Devon.

The Guide's search for the Best Sunday Roast, sponsored by Koffmann's Potatoes and Tracklements, emphasises the need to celebrate those restaurants, pubs and cafes that form the backbone of the British dining scene. With its association with tradition and family gatherings, and available everywhere from humble neighbourhood cafes to grand hotel dining rooms, it's clear from the thousands of nominations received that a Sunday roast is Britain's favourite meal. In fact, 75% of Good Food Guide readers say a roast is Britain's most iconic dish.

Tripadvisor reviewers seem to concur with the Guide's assessment. Sarah M wrote: "There Are Gastro Pubs and Then Theres The Cornish Arms. In her review, she stated: "It is not often I'm impressed to this degree.

This is a pub with rooms that is distinctly different. "It oozes warmth and cosiness, with a vein of top-quality service running right through it, and the two are quite intoxicating! We booked late, having returned from Spain and requested a booking for dinner, a room and the ability to bring our small dog. "This was seamless and was handled exactly as it should be.

We were greeted by smiles and a genuine welcome, nothing fake, not.
