Tourists flocking to ‘Britain's most photographed beach' have led to a nightmare of "Wembley-sized crowds" and piles of litter, a local councillor has said. Hoards of people hunting to take the best Insta-worthy snap have the same annoying habit – they're not being careful enough to take all of their rubbish away with them. Barry Manners said beautiful Botany Bay in Broadstairs in Kent is being blighted by huge crowds from the capital, searching for the perfect beach pic.

The sandy beach is regularly named as one of most photographed in the nation - thanks to the huge numbers of people tagging the location on Instagram . But the popularity has come with a cost, with huge piles of rubbish photographed at the beach - leading Cllr Manners to brand the beauty spot “foul”. The Conservative , who sits on Thanet District Council (TDC) also blasted the council over parking and traffic near the beach.

"It's absolutely foul right now,” he said. “TDC has failed to get to grips with the parking issues that have been an issue here for over two decades. They've simply kicked it into the tall grass.

They're too lazy and too inept to actually have proper parking control and so it's a complete free-for-all. "The roads are congested and blocked so the bin lorries can't access, ambulances can't get down, fire engines can't get down. It's an accident waiting to happen.
