Wales faced England in a football World Cup final just the other day. You might not have realised, unless your grandad played in it. This is the Veterans Football World Cup - where footballers in their 70s (and some in their 80s) score unbelievable goals, get stuck in to tackles and sprint around like they're 40 years younger.

With two competitions (one for over-70s, one for over-75s), the tournament was held in Cardiff this year and - have no doubts about it - Wales were in it to win it. Following the Wales over-75s team through the tournament is a lesson in the unbelievable passion that leads you to keep playing football in the rain for an eighth or ninth consecutive decade. But these guys are living a lifelong dream in representing Wales, and they’re doing it in style.

The tournament has been brilliant and the camaraderie in the changing room is really good.” I join up with the Wales camp in the driving rain on the competition’s quietest morning, and immediately meet Tim Bowker,.
