Just half an hour from a tourist hotspot’s bustling seafront is a little village from a bygone era that is hidden away and full of surprises, including its own resident fairies. The UK has plenty of picturesque, quaint villages offering visitors a relaxed day out. It’s not that uncommon to see a village green where residents play cricket , or to admire a beautiful historic church before nipping into a local pub for some refreshment.

What is unusual is to walk around a town which has a Scottish Castle, a fishing village and a model railway featuring children’s favourites Thomas the Tank Engine and his faithful friends Annie and Clarabel. Add into the mix some resident fairies and gnomes and you have yourself a very unique destination indeed. Just a 30 minute walk from Blackpool’s busy seafront is a tranquil location set in two and a half acres of beautiful landscaped gardens.

But this isn’t any normal UK town, once you step inside this one you’ll feel like Gulliver in Lilliput because it’s actually a miniature, model village. As you walk along the pathways at Blackpool Model Village and Gardens you can see hundreds of village scenes with handcrafted models and figures from the UK’s rich history, with more being added every year so you can keep going back and discovering something new. Visitors are given a quiz which acts as a map and guide around the villages so you don’t miss out on any of them.

There are even waterways which you can walk over via little bri.
