A luxurious three-bedroom apartment on Billionaire's Row sold for £5.4million in July - with King Charles listed as the buyer. According to the property's deed, the buyer is named as " King Charles in Right of Canada, Represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs" - with the important documents signed by Robert McCubbing, the senior trade commissioner and director of trade and investment at the Consulate General of Canada in New York.

However, it turns out that New York actually doesn't own the glamorous flat - which comes with incredible amenities from a golf simulator to a swimming pool with private cabanas. The Canadian government is in fact behind the purchase. The monarch's name was attached because the property will become the official residence for Canada's consul general in New York - and King Charles is Canada's Head of State.

Images show the three-bed luxury residence covering an eye-watering 3,600sq ft on 111 West 57th Street. The condo was bought at a knockdown price, as it went for £3million less than the initial £8.3million wanted in February 2022.

Also known as Steinway Tower, 111 West 57th Street, is a residential skyscraper in the Midtown Manhattan neighbourhood of New York City. It is the fourth-tallest building in the US as of November 2022, as well as the thinnest skyscraper in the world with a width-to-height ratio of about 1:24. Developed by JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group, it is situated along Billionaires Row on the north-side of 5.
