Escape to the Country's Sonali Shah has been a familiar face on our screens for several years. The 44 year old was brought up in Edgware, London, by her parents who emigrated from India, along with her younger brother Amal. She attended Longfield First and Middle School, followed by Whitmore High School in Harrow.

She then studied broadcast journalism at Nottingham Trent University and joined the BBC World Service as a producer in 2002.
