Saturday, August 3, 2024 Assam boosts tourism with six new Taj hotels and Tata’s semiconductor plant, promising economic growth and world-class facilities across the state. To boost tourism and economic growth in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has unveiled plans to establish six new Taj hotels across the state. The state government will fully support the Tata Group in this initiative, which includes upgrading the current Guwahati Vivanta into a Taj hotel and adding another Taj property in Jagiroad.

Sharing the news on the microblogging platform X, Chief Minister Sarma announced that the Assam government is poised to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Group. This partnership is designed to introduce world-class tourism facilities at Kaziranga National Park, a renowned wildlife sanctuary. This announcement coincides with another significant development—the foundation ceremony (Bhumi Pujan) for Tata’s semiconductor plant in Morigaon.

Expected to be completed by 2025, the plant signifies Assam’s foray into the semiconductor industry and is anticipated to make substantial contributions to the state’s economic growth. Sarma expressed his appreciation to the Tata Group for their dedication to Assam, acknowledging their presence across the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The collaboration goes beyond Kaziranga, as Tata’s hospitality chain in Guwahati began with the Ginger Hotel, followed by Vivanta, which is now set to be developed into.
