Thursday, January 23, 2025 The Uttar Pradesh tableau at this year’s Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path will highlight the theme “Mahakumbh 2025: Golden India—Heritage and Development.” Centered around the globally celebrated Mahakumbh festival in Prayagraj, the tableau aims to showcase India’s rich spiritual heritage alongside its developmental and technological advancements. Celebrating the World’s Largest Gathering of Humanity Mahakumbh, recognized by UNESCO for its cultural significance, occurs at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj.
The event, which attracts millions of devotees, reflects a blend of spirituality and tradition. Uttar Pradesh’s tableau brings this divine spectacle to life with intricate depictions of saints, sages, and pilgrims engaged in ritualistic practices such as meditating, blowing conches, and taking holy dips in the sacred waters. A Symbolic Centerpiece: The Amrit Kalash At the forefront of the tableau stands a majestic, forward-leaning replica of the ‘Amrit Kalash,’ symbolizing the flow of divine nectar.
The centerpiece portrays the mythological tale of the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), which underscores the Mahakumbh’s spiritual and historical significance. Surrounding the Kalash are representations of the 14 divine treasures (ratnas) believed to have emerged from the churning, including Lakshmi, the Kaustubh Mani, Kamdhenu cow, Airavat elephant, and Amrit itself.
