This initiative, launched under the Sikkim Registration of Tourist Trade Rules 2025 , is designed to promote sustainable tourism while effectively managing the increasing influx of visitors to this Himalayan destination.

What You Need to Know About Sikkim’s Entry Fee The newly introduced INR 50 charge per traveler will go toward the Tourism Sustainability Development (TSD) Fund , which is dedicated to improving tourism infrastructure. These funds will be used for road maintenance, environmental conservation, cleanliness initiatives, and preservation of Sikkim’s rich cultural and natural heritage .
The overarching goal is to ensure that tourism growth aligns with sustainability efforts, enhancing the experience for future visitors. The entry fee applies to all tourists except children under five years old and individuals on official government assignments. It will be a one-time charge valid for stays up to 30 days .
However, those who leave Sikkim and re-enter within the same 30-day period will be required to pay the fee again. .
