Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 7 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the convocation of Assam Forest Protection Corps constables held at Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Dergaon on Wednesday. During the convocation held at the parade ground of Dergaon Police Training College, a total of 940 constables, including 90 girls and 850 boys, were recruited. During his address, Sarma said that he was happy to attend the convocation of the newly appointed soldiers.

The rigorous training enabled the soldiers of the Assam Forest Protection Corps to face the challenges during their work. "To protect these forests and wildlife, we need more forest protection corps. As forests are located in interstate border areas, they will also have to shoulder the responsibility as border guards," he said.

Thanking Assam Police for the action taken against the corrupt officials of the Public Service Commission, Sarma asked those who oppose the transparent recruitment process to accept today's scenario by leaving politics aside. "Getting a job without a bribe is an achievement of this government that people will always remember," he said. Referring to the recruitments from 2001 to 2014 being opened only for a particular community, he said that they had succeeded in moving one step forward towards the security of Assam's future, forest protection, caste, land, and border protection.

He further informed that the recruitment process of Assam Police would start in October for recrui.
