The average sale price in Newbiggin-By-The-Sea stands at a modest £129,063, which is less than half the UK's average property price of £282,000.

Lawrence Jones, 62, a refuse collector for Newcastle City Council, moved to the area four years ago with his wife Michelle Jones, 52, after leaving nearby Shiremoor, reports the Express .
