'The Top of the Tide' by Jack B Yeats at Whytes 'The Stoney Fields of Kerry' by Paul Henry at Whyte's Whyte’s While every Irish art auction of note seems to include a Paul Henry and a Jack B Yeats, the examples at Whyte’s sale of Important Irish Art are exceptional. ‘The Top of the Tide’ (1955) by Jack B Yeats (Lot 30: est. €250,000-€350,000) is a Beckett-like scene of two male figures in conversation in an open landscape.
'The Stoney Fields of Kerry' by Paul Henry at Whyte's Paul Henry’s ‘The Stoney Fields of Kerry’ (Lot 10: est. €150,000-€200,000) shows cottages and a turf stack with mountains beyond, framed by a windblown tree. The sale takes place on Monday, September 30.

“She’s a trailblazer in Irish art historical terms and few enough of her paintings or sculptures have come to the auction market,” says James O’Halloran of Adam’s, who is auctioning her collection on Tuesday, October 1. “She’s referenced in virtually every survey of modern Irish art and included in the permanent collections of the Ulster Museum and in the Hugh Lane Gallery.” Brown was a pioneer of sculpture in fibreglass and her best-known public sculpture is ‘Sheep on the Road’ (1991) by the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.
