I’m A Celeb viewers had one major complaint about Maura Higgins’ jungle debut on Thursday night as the Longford native made her grand entrance with a risqué joke about the clergy. Despitée being tipped to join the ITV reality series for several months, Maura’s fans were left stunned when she wasn’t one of the initial ten celebrities to move into the new camp. Similarly to her Love Island debut back in 2019, Maura appeared several days into the show.

However, this time she was with a Reverend rather than a fellow singleton. Taking up base at the Jungle Junkyard for the coming days with Reverend Richard Coles, the pair are tasked with contacting the main camp and convincing them that they are living in squalor despite having luxuries available to them. Forming an unlikely double act, Maura and Reverend Richard managed to convince their new campmate Melvin Odoom that they were also getting covered in nasty offal during a trial, when in reality they were enjoying lunch out of his view.

While viewers were delighted to have Maura on I’m A Celeb following years of campaigning, some were displeased by how one star was pronouncing her name throughout the night. Loose Woman panellist and former Royal Family reporter Jane Moore repeatedly called Maura ‘Moira’, leaving many fans taking to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their frustrations. One person said: ‘I can’t wait for Maura to tell Jane she’s not Moira.
