On World Tourism Day 2024, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality conglomerate, has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting sustainable and responsible tourism practices. Through its pioneering ESG+ framework, Paathya, IHCL is working to foster inclusivity and support local economies, furthering its commitment to responsible travel.
As part of its efforts to protect the environment, IHCL has fully embraced renewable energy, utilizing wind and solar power at many of its properties. Currently, 43 hotels operate entirely on green energy, with 37% of the company’s electricity coming from renewable sources. By 2030, IHCL aims to increase this figure to 50%.
The company has also implemented significant water conservation measures, recycling 48% of its wastewater and developing water management plans for properties in drought-prone regions. Additionally, IHCL has eradicated single-use plastics, introduced eco-friendly packaging, and installed 343 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 146 locations throughout India. To cater to corporate guests, initiatives like the ‘Innergise’ green meetings offer sustainable solutions for business gatherings.
