Iga Swiatek was in awe when compatriot Kasia Niewiadoma won the Tour de France Femmes by just four seconds on Sunday (August 18). With this win on the Alpe d’Huez, the 29-year-old scripted history by winning the race by the narrowest of margins (in both men’s and women’s races). Swiatek on Sunday, got knocked out of the Cincinnati Open after losing in straight sets to Aryna Sabalenka .

It wasn’t smooth sailing for the Pole as she had to fight hard during the final race to secure the win against defending champion Demi Vollering of the Netherlands. It was Swiatek’s second appearance at the quadrennial event, having made her debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games where she played in both singles and doubles but failed to reach the semifinals .
