An arcade and indoor play area in New Brighton has been named Britain’s favourite seaside experience by the Seaside Heritage Network. New Palace and Adventureland topped the list of 10 destinations, which included numerous sites across the North West. St Annes Beach Huts in Lytham St Annes, Blackpool’s Showtown Museum and the Great Orme Tramway & Goats in Llandudno all featured in the Bucket and Spade List of the Top Ten favourite seaside places and experiences.

The 10 winners were announced in an event held in the Art Deco surroundings of the Plaza Cinema, Weston-super-Mare on September 16. New Palace and Adventureland topped the list, having provided seaside entertainment for generations. Today it features an extensive indoor play area and activities including a 25ft climbing wall, a giant six lane slide and ball pit, as well as the Brightspot Arcade and a funfair.
