BLOOMINGTON — The IAA Credit Union, 808 IAA Drive in Bloomington, announced Joan Maney as its artist of the quarter. Maney is self-taught and specializes in realistic painting, but spent most of her career as a human resources professional, according to a news release. She mostly works in acrylics, with some watercolors.
Joan Maney's art is on display at the IAA Credit Union in Bloomington for the months of November and December. Maney aims for each of heir pieces to evoke emotion, the news release said. She started painting after creating a winter scene during a team-building class.
When she brought it home and showed it to her husband, he assumed she had bought the piece. Maney then started her own business, Because I Can Arts!, where she paints custom orders. To view or purchase her work, visit becauseicanarts.
