The Wilderness Festival in the Cotswolds (Image: GETTY) Tucked away in the heart of the Cotswolds, a mere few miles from Jeremy Clarkson 's Diddly Squat Farm, is Cornbury Park - the secret countryside hangout where the magic happens. The zen vibe was recognisable from the moment I walked through the gates, with sun-worshippers sprawled out on the grass beside the river and rowing boats bobbing dreamily on the water nearby. Yet further in were live podcast events, cabaret acts, comedy performances, art installations, independent clothing stalls, yoga tents and even zones where festival-goers can get a head massage.

It's been branded Britain's "poshest festival" on account of all the above, plus its luxurious hot tubs overlooking the river, its air-conditioned indoor bars away from the searing summer heat and even civilised quiet zones where those whose senses are over-stimulated can go to recharge their batteries. That said, the "posh" tag might be exaggerated in comparison to festivals like Henley where they enforce a black tie dress code. On the contrary, among the "wholesome hedonism" vibes at Wilderness, anything goes.

Themed costume days invited party-goers to don their most glamorous gladrags, dressing up as much - or as little - as they pleased. I spotted everything from bird feather skirts and holographic leggings to rainbow sequin dresses and butterfly wings, as they sought to interpret the theme "Once Upon A Time in The Woods".
