Like any other city, Nottingham has seen its fair share of highs and lows over the years, with many holding strong views about the city famed for Robin Hood. As a resident of three years, I too have my own opinions. I relocated to Nottingham when I began university, making it the only city I've ever called home apart from my small hometown in Romania.

Starting university during the pandemic meant that attending the usual open days at various universities to get a feel for my potential new home was impossible. The lockdown left me with Google Street View and numerous YouTube videos as my only sources of information. Despite this, choosing Nottingham as the starting point for my journey abroad, away from everything familiar, was an easy decision.

Surprisingly, the city wasn't all that different from what I was used to. This realisation came about due to several factors that made me appreciate the fantastic nature of Nottingham. Nottingham caters to a wide range of interests, whether it's the excellent transport links within the city, the natural beauty, the vibrant nightlife, or the rich sporting heritage.

You don't need to splurge on costly Ubers or endure lengthy walks to explore all of Nottingham's top attractions. The city boasts excellent public transport options, including buses, trams, Lime bikes and e-scooters. Navigating the bus and tram network is a breeze, with stops scattered across the city and user-friendly apps for ticket purchases.
