Mudchute Farm, in the heart of the Isle of Dogs, is where city life meets the countryside. Just a half-hour walk from Canary Wharf , or a 12-minute journey by public transport, this thriving farm has more than 100 animals and birds. I visited the huge farm, one of the largest inner-city farms in Europe, and it made me forget I was in London.

I was able to stand pretty close to llamas munching on grass, pet baby goats, and even watch lambs being fed by their mother. This is a great spot for families , especially those with kids, as you can pet and feed all the animals - you just have to buy a bag of animal feed for a pound. And there are hand-washing stations conveniently placed around the farm.

Mudchute is London's only Rare Breeds Survival Trust -approved conservation farm park. I particularly loved watching baby Bagot Goats climb rocks like it was a mountain, and staring at llamas, all while I took in the amazing Canary Wharf skyline in the background.

Mudchute offers more than just a farm experience, though. There’s a free petting zoo, various workshops - when I visited, there was a wire crafting one - and a small animals section, popular with school visit.
