You've heard of Hampton Court Palace, you've probably ticked off Richmond Palace. But if you fancy a weekend out of Surrey, there is a lesser-known former palace that is now more accessible than ever - so I went along to take a look. Transport for London (TfL) has announced a partnership with one of the city's most iconic historical sites, offering a significant discount that's perfect for us living just outside the capital.

TfL has joined forces with the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich to provide a 30 per cent discount on entry You can now visit "Britain's Sistine Chapel" for a discounted price - just by using London's public transport. Adult tickets are now available for just £11.55 when you show proof of TfL travel on the day of your visit via the TfL Oyster and Contactless app.

For us Surrey folk, the journey is straightforward. We can catch a South Western Railway train into London Waterloo, then hop on the Jubilee line to North Greenwich station. From there, it's just a 15-minute walk to the Naval College.

The offer, valid until November 17, 2024, allows visitors to explore what is often referred to as "Britain's Sistine Chapel". The Painted Hall, housed within the Old Royal Naval College, features a stunning painted ceiling that took nearly two decades to complete. It's also steeped in history - this was the very spot where the coffin of heroic naval sea captain Lord Nelson lay in state back in 1806.

Once you've finished marvelling at this exquisite building, Gre.
