With a new opening on the Bath Road in , it was only a matter of time before I had to try it out. Circo is a brand new restaurant, inspired by busy French brasseries of the 1900s through to the roaring twenties and has been described as bringing a ‘little theatre’ to the . Formerly known as the Indus, JM Socials group bought the spot in August 2020 but the pandemic and building challenges led to a delay in opening.

Attending Circo for lunch on a Wednesday, my first impressions are that yes the venue is in a good location in town. Bath Road is always a vibrant hub of activity, it may be out-of-town a little but still a good spot in my view. Inside the decor is definitely roaring twenties inspired with a fantastic bar, plenty of tables, lots of paintings and it felt fresh.

A nicely presented restaurant, my first main comment is the service. Overall throughout lunch, the waiters were all superb in their service right from the start with the offer of tap or sparkling water. You felt their hospitality so for me that deserves a ten out of ten.

So what about the drinks? I tried two including a Fever Tree Lemonade and an alcohol-free Free Damm beer. Both drinks were refreshing, if a little pricey, where I was expecting the alcohol-free to be a little cheaper than £4.50 but maybe that’s just me? Onto the food and I decided to go for two snack sharer plates but two main dishes to try.

The two snacks were Olives and Lavash with a Smoked Aubergine Dip. The olives were divine both .
