The idea of an airport lounge is infused with a sense of luxury to me. Comfy sofas, all-you-can-eat food and alcohol on tap with no hard, plastic chairs in sight? It sounds like heaven. So I decided to try Heathrow Airport's Club Aspire lounge for two hours before my boyfriend, Ron, and I flew to Budapest on a Monday morning at the beginning of August.

It was a 9.30am flight, meaning we turned up at the lounge in Terminal 3 at around 7am, bleary-eyed from a disgustingly early alarm. I had pre-booked the lounge online , which was easy and quick.

The booking cost £40 per person, and included all food, beer and wine - the only extra charges were for sparkling wine, cocktails, and showers. We made our way into the lounge and looked for a place to settle down.

However, even at 7am, it was already fairly busy - all the comfiest chairs and sofas had gone, but we did manage to grab a booth with a table before going to inspect what was on offer. I was in need of a coffee, and my boyfriend an airport pint - the lounge had Moretti on tap, which they serve in half-pints. While Ron's beer went down very quickly and easily, my coffee was unfortunately practically undrinkable.
