During the summer holidays, many Brits jet off to sunnier climes to enjoy beach resorts and swimming pools. But, as one reporter found out, you don't need to embark on a long-haul flight to enjoy stunning coastal views. Liverpool Echo reporter Ellen Kriwin had the good fortune of experiencing a spell of dry weather while embarking on a staycation at the enchanting Quay Hotel and Spa .

The hotel promised breathtaking views over the Conwy Estuary and towards the historic Conwy Castle, and it certainly delivered. After arriving at the hotel, Ellen's initial thought was disbelief that such a gem was just an hour and 20 minutes from her base in Liverpool. She said "In the past, I've spent countless hours travelling only to be greeted by a mediocre beach in a slightly warmer climate.

Ellen said: "A wonderfully friendly staff member welcomed us, checked us in, and confirmed a few details, including our dinner reservation at the Ebb and Flow Restaurant within the hotel.

Opening the door to her room, Ellen was once again wowed by the views. She said: "The views from our hotel car park were impressive, but the panorama of the estuary from our room was nothing short of incredible.
