The Row Barge, a Guildford pub based on Riverside, a beautiful location which dates back to 1856. With a Three Star rating on TripAdvisor, it's fair to say that in the past this pub has been given a bad reputation by some Guildfordians. But, after my recent visit, I firmly believe this reputation is undeserved.

I visited the Row Barge on the afternoon of Friday August 12th, and was discovered that as of December the pub had been under new ownership. This made a lot of sense as I had observed that the pub had invested in a new children's play area, new menus, new indoor seats and chairs, a new display behind the bar and a new pair of pool tables. The children's play area included a wooden set of swing and climb-house, and a bouncy castle.

The new pool tables are modern, and are free to play on Sundays and Mondays. Speaking of weekly events, there are also weekly open mics on Tuesday, Wine Wednesdays, where wine is discounted, Fizzy Friday, which includes reduced prosecco prices and live music on Saturday. There are also deals which are available all week round, such as Kids meals for £1 when accompanied by an adult meal.

“I’ve been waiting for someone to do this for years, it's a million times better, I’ve been waiting for three years for this.” Lula, 33, responded when I asked for her opinion on the recent revamp of the Row Barge. And Lulsa isn't alone.

Others have started to pick up on the great vibes of this 'new' pub too. A recent Google review reads: "Set right o.
