A man paid $20,000 (£15.8k) to bring a woman he had been speaking online for a few weeks to the US - people call her his "maid" and dub her a "gold digger" but they insist they are happy. Evan and Stefania met on a Filipino dating website and quickly hit it off.

After speaking for just over three weeks, Evan was bursting to meet Stefania in person - and spent $5,000 (£3.9k) on a trip to The Philippines to meet her. The couple immediately became boyfriend and girlfriend and began discussing their future - after spending $15,000 (£11.

8k) on trips to see Stefania, Evan brought up filling an engagement visa and living in the US together. Evan explained on YouTube's Truly TV : "During the process we had 90 days to get married during her arrival to the US, we had a secret elopement in June and just this past Sunday we had a wedding with my family." Now husband and wife, the couple share their relationship online but are often met with judgement and people assuming that he wanted a "maid" and she needed a green card.

"People judge me because my husband spent $20,000 bringing me here to the US," Stefania said.
