Digital content creator Sugandh Sharma found herself in the eye of a controversy a massive outrage after she created an Instagram Reel on Bengaluru, where she can be heard saying that the Silicon Valley of India “would be empty if North Indians leave”. She added that all paying guest accommodations (PGs) and clubs would be deserted and people won’t no longer enjoy rental income without North Indians. She further said that all the “beautiful girls who dance to Punjabi music won’t be seen” in the city anymore.

After people bashed her on social media left and right for her remarks, she took a U-turn, stating that she “loves Bengaluru” and urged people to stop using her video to create a divide within the country. “I love Bengaluru. And to all those who are writing a lot of nasty comments on my funny, light-hearted comedy reels, feeling hurt, posting hate comments, or trying to spread a lot of hate by sharing my videos, I just want to say this: Look, I’m a traveller.

Wherever I go, I try to learn the culture of that place,” Sharma says in an Instagram video.
