A woman's holiday nightmare unfolded when she arrived at the airport with her family, only to be told her husband couldn't fly. Beth Turbutt-Rogers, also known as The Budgeting Mum, shared her stressful experience on TikTok. She explained that the family were flying return with Ryanair when they were informed that her husband's passport was out of date - despite it being not due to expire until March 2025, meaning they thought there were eight months left on it.

Beth said she had checked in online and nothing flagged up until they reached the airport. She explained this was due to changes following Brexit, where previously there was an extension on passports making them last slightly longer than 10 years, but this is no longer valid. However, Jet2 still allows passengers to travel with the extension, so her husband had to catch a Jet2 flight the next day, leaving Beth to journey with their two children alone.
