The Cybercrime wing of the Cyberabad police arrested a person from Andhra Pradesh in a cyberstalking case. Police said the accused M. Ramakrishna, a BTech student from Guntur, allegedly stalked a victim by using her morphed photos.

On October 22, the victim complained to the cybercrime police saying she received a message on Telegram from an unknown user who accessed her personal information, including photos from her Instagram account. The suspect initially posed as a friend but soon started stalking her by sending morphed nude images of her, further threatening to share the photos with her friends and family. Despite the victim’s attempts to ignore the messages, he continued the harassment.

Investigation revealed that Ramakrishna manipulated the images of multiple victims, leveraging AI tools to create inappropriate content for stalking. Police traced him through his Telegram ID and arrested him in Guntur. Police seized his mobile phone, which contained numerous morphed images of several girls and women.

The Cyberabad police further advised the public to exercise extreme caution when sharing personal photos on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. To protect oneself from cyberstalking, the police suggested a few safety tips, like reviewing privacy settings, being cautious of friend requests, limiting personal photo sharing and reporting suspicious activity promptly. In case of cyberstalking or other forms of cyberbullying, the victims can report the crime.
