A snake caused chaos on the set of All Creatures Great and Small. The reptile was brought in for a storyline on the new series – and many of the cast were left terrified. Callum Woodhouse, who has returned as Tristan Farnon, said: “I have a phobia of snakes.
“It wasn’t huge, but it was big enough that I was still a bit daunted by it. It was a face your fears kind of moment!” James Anthony-Rose, who plays Richard Carmody, added: “It was quite a big one. They really have a grip around your hands though, they coil around.
“They almost use you like a tree, I guess.” And Patricia Hodge, who plays Mrs Pumphrey, said: “The whole snake episode was rather extraordinary.” But Samuel West, who plays Siegfried Farnon, said: “The snake was beautiful and I very much liked getting close to it.
” The new series features the highly-anticipated reunion of Tristan and Siegried. Viewers are taken back to Darrowby in 1941, during the Second World War. A teaser for the series revealed: "The series will continue to bring the stories of James Herriot to life as we return to Darrowby to rejoin our unconventional much loved Skeldale Family and the colourful ensemble of farmers, and townsfolk living in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1940s.
